i just want to take a moment and talk about my wonderful grandparents/landlords.
my grandma is my mom's mom. she is a housewife extraordinaire. and even though she's a great-grandmother of 2 now, she's still in practice.
and i don't mean "housewife extraordinaire" in the normal way... i mean this is a woman that still spends hours upon hours making scrap quilts, making jam, and still uses the clothing line in the backyard.
i'm serious.
she's incredible. did i mention that she sews? and i mean she SEWS! she sewed EVERYTHING my mom and her 4 sisters wore, including swimming suits and underwear... when they were all younger.
she is the genius behind my bridesmaids skirts. she totally saved the day when i cut the patterns wrong, and they still turned out absolutely perfect- just how i wanted them.
she has done so much for devin and i, and we've only been living here for a month! i couldn't be more grateful for a grandma like her. and i'm so glad that she's always right upstairs.
grandpa... he's a whole other story.
he is the most clever, witty, hilarious man. sometimes, he doesn't quite get it- he won't understand what you're trying to say, but there is no filter on him, and he'll blurt out whatever is on his mind. literally.
devin and i love that we can always find him outside "puttering around". he is always so busy with some project.
you know what else is awesome about my grandparents/landlords? they are currently serving their SECOND service mission as a couple for the church. a few years ago, they served at Cove Fort, and now, they are doing digital processing in a building right next to where i work.
they recently retired, and are being more productive then ever. not to mention, traveling to some of the coolest places in the world-- just for fun.
they are amazing, i love them, and i couldn't be happier to have them as my grandparents/landlords! this will be a great 2 years.
this picture is old, but it's all i had! they're the coolest, huh?
----------
as of right now? i'm sitting on the couch. alone. snuggled up in a blanket because it's 90+ degrees outside and probably 68 degrees inside... it's FREEZING in here.
i'm watching Princess and the Frog. by myself. willingly.
it's one of the best disney princess movies ever. and i'm surprised how classic it is. it was made 2 years ago, but i think it fits in with the greats: Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, etc. which were made... in the 90's? yeah. awesome.
when my husband gets home, he'll probably laugh at me. and then we'll head out for a friday night of a typical newlywed couple.
2 of devin's mission friends are getting married tonight (not to each other)... so we've got some reception-ing to do. which i don't mind. because receptions always have great food, and they give you a reason to dress up a little bit. which i also love.
and then we'll do some much needed grocery shopping, or some much needed fishing-gear shopping.
both much needed.
we're going to the wedge in 2 weekends, and then we'll be in WYOMING (!!!!!!!) the entire last week of July. I am thrilled. I can't wait to finally go camping!
today at work, we finally got busy again. we started doing some work for another department, and i spent the day using the behind-the-scenes part of the internet that nobody knows about. it was fascinating. i'll show you sometime, maybe.
after work, i went to the bank. devin and i finally joined our accounts, but since i didn't have my SS card, which has my new legal name on it, they made me go on under my maiden name. so i went back and changed it.
it feels GREAT to be an Ashby. in case you were wondering.
as for tomorrow? we'll be hiking 5th water with Kylee via Out-N-Back, and i'm very excited. it's been too long since i went on a hike. so i will probably do a great job of embarrassing myself with my complaining of heat and "are we there yet?" questions. yaaaayyy
