Hunger Games

we went to a showing of The Hunger Games on Friday with a bunch of family and friends at Thanksgiving Point. We watched it on the Mammoth Screen -- that thing is TOO HUGE! We left a little nauseous but it was worth it! I thought the movie was so well done. It followed the book pretty much exactly. Down to tiny details, and even some of the script. It was very impressive. The cast? Incredible.

The thing about the book though, is that it is so well written, and already set up to be an amazing movie, so as I read it, it was so easy to picture it in my head. And although the cast they actually used was incredible, I had my own in mind:

When I picture people in books, it just happens by default and I don't seem to have much say in it, and it just stays that way forever.

HAYMITCH: Kevin Costner circa 1990 (like in "Dances with Wolves" except drunk.)

Photobucket Photobucket

PEETA MELLARK: Taylor Wach (my younger sister's ex-boyfriend - weird, i know. but like i said. it happened without my consent.)

Photobucket

KATNISS EVERDEEN: Me... even weirder, but again, default.

PRESIDENT SNOW: Christopher Lee - except more white hair.

Photobucket

EFFIE: a very petite redhead....

I know I had ideas for other people, but I can't think of them right now. I think the cast I had could have done a great job, too...

happy valley

I've reached a point where I'm afraid to like (or tell people I like), or do (or tell people i do) certain things, because here in the valley, absolutely everything has become a cliche.

but doesn't that make me really cliche?...

(sigh)

and i'm pretty sure that can be taken literally. everything from shoes to ice cream is cliche. being an individual is cliche, but so is being a follower/jumping on the bandwagon. it's unavoidable.

maybe i'll just go buy some sperry's and listen to adele all day.

i wish there was nothing wrong with that sentence. (no sarcasm, promise)

I think I will stick to stalking you from afar...

I think I've opened the Twitter "join today for free!" page about 6 times in the last month.

I'm tempted.

But I always talk myself out of it.
What's the point?
I don't even get how it works.
I won't even have any followers.
I'm not funny enough to tweet.

Do I really need another life-sucking conniving vortex lulling me out of reality on a daily basis? Removing me further and further form society? (I'm hooked enough as it is).

And I figure... If I can talk myself out of it 6 times in a row? Then it's probably okay that I'm just not going to get one.

Plus also... I already have limited (but still totally useful) access to the twitter accounts of the people I care to read the tweets of when my heart desires to do so (ie: Danica, Chloe, Devin, mormongirlprobs, provoallstar, etc...).

[5] things

Photobucket

these have very, VERY quickly become some of the most entertaining people in my life.
don't watch big bang theory? i HIGHLY recommend you change that!

Photobucket

tell me Kate Middleton ISN'T the most stylish person you know. She is so classy and iconic. She is modest and always happy. She has... poise. She's amazing! I want the green dress most of all. I want it in Navy. Do you think that's even possible? haha it's probably thousands of dollars.

Photobucket

my eyelash extensions! i don't know if this is a good picture of them... i love the way Baylee did them because they're long and thick, but it looks pretty natural! just like i'm really, really talented at putting on mascara. i love them! last time i had extensions was for my wedding, and they were awesome! i think i'll keep up on them this time. it's so worth it. they make you feel pretty.. IN THE MORNING. wha?!?!?! did i convince you to get yours done yet?

   Photobucket

i've been in a watch phase for awhile. this happens sometimes. i go through phases where i feel naked if there isn't anything on my wrists, and other phases where having watches and bracelets on drives me crazy. anyway, i really like this watch. and the bracelet. both from american eagle.

i like to put powdered sugar on strawberries. soooo good. it was a better snack alternative to chips and candy.

Pop Culture Thoughts of the Day

I think Taylor Swift is asking for it. These boys keep dating her, and breaking her heart... she just hasn't caught on. I think all these guys are doing it on purpose because they know they'll be in a song! She's writing #1 singles about these heartbreakers -- I don't blame them!

I think somebody poured a bucket of ice down Michael Jackson's pants when he was recording "Black or White". I'm a HUGE MJ fan, don't get me wrong. But I don't know any other man that can squeal like that!

Eminem is talented. No comparison.

Kanye West is dumb. Most of the time.

If Prince and Madonna had a baby, and it mutated, it would be Lady Gaga. This, because Prince and Madonna are the most weird, but to an extreme that's sort of acceptable. Lady Gaga would have to be their mutated spawn, because she is FAR, FAR away from anything even resembling normal.

Skinny jeans on boys STILL ISNT COOL. In case you were wondering.

Why I absolutely Love to Hate Ke$ha

I am pretty sure you all know that Ke$ha is my favorite. Just because she is completely insane. Do you wanna know why else?
  • Her name is almost Ketchup. Almost.
  • She thinks using a dollar sign symbol instead of a regular 's' is socially acceptable.
  • She claims the dollar sign symbol is meant to be ironic because she "actually [stood] for the opposite of putting a lot of emphasis on money"... spoken like a true, filthy rich star...
  • She has officially been quoted saying "I love garbage bags" during a photo shoot for Elle Magazine.
  • Her name REALLY IS Kesha. Really.
  • Her full name? Kesha Rose Sebert. Her mother? Pebe. She doesn't even know who her father is and her brothers are Lagan and Louis. Really.
  • She was literally born at a party, and probably conceived at one as well. In L.A.
  • She describes her style as "garbage-chic"... is it just me or does that seem like the world's biggest oxy-moron?
  • She claims her image... her "garbage-chic" style developed from her being poor and trying to brand herself on a budget... True, it worked. But I don't think she's going to be starting a fad...
  • She purposefully makes herself look like she dressed in extreme drag yesterday, got seriously drunk, slept on it, and made important public appearances. WITH a hangover.
  • Even when she's sober, she sounds drunk. Her words always slur.
  • It's quite possible that she really does brush her teeth with Jack Daniel's Whiskey.
  • She makes up words. Like "steeze" style and ease...
  • She achieved 'near perfect' SAT scores and described herself as "very studious" in high school... but dropped out at 17...
  • She uses the word 'bummer' in serious conversation.
  • It's questionable to authorities including The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times and Billboard whether she can actually sing...
  • Her fashion inspiration? This guy:

Keith Richards. An old stoner in eyeliner. Classy...

And the #1 reason why I love to hate Ke$ha?

Photobucket

This was her outfit for the VMA's. Aside from that hair... This is the caption: "KESHA (in a Marjan Malakpour dress custom-made by Lauren Bradely out of garbage bags)

Her dream has come true. Her dress is MADE OUT OF GARBAGE BAGS.

"I love garbage bags"... yes, yes you do. And I love YOU, Ke$ha.
