i hate technology.
i hate texting.
i hate the constant need i have to check my facebook, and feel connected to all of you.
i hate that facebook alone has completely changed the types of relationship that i have with my friends. not only does it allow us to feel less guilty for not seeing each other so often, but we almost always use the phrase "on facebook.." it's HORRIBLE.
i've always hated texting. it's just time-consuming and stuff. i'd rather just talk on the phone. i text a lot anyway though, but for good reason. usually, it's convenient. devin and i text throughout the day while we're too busy with work and other stuff to have a real conversation. and it works well for quick questions. but that's about it.
i'm also really starting to hate facebook. i want to deactivate my account and just QUIT for awhile... but i would miss EVERYTHING. it's awful, but facebook is the only way i know about people getting engaged, having babies... I've even used FB to work out scheduling issues with my co-workers.
Right now, Devin is working on a paper for english, and his topic is how social networking has changed communication.
which is for the bad.
I had this problem before he chose the topic, but it has surfaced more since then.
I hate that we rely on the internet for EVERYTHING. The answers to all the questions, literally... my work uses an online schedule... that fails us frequently...
I just wish the world were simpler. that's all.
(sigh)
I could probably make a lot more strong points, and be a lot more witty about this, but I'm not really in the mood. I just felt like I owed you guys another blog... and there I go again. Another reason why technology CONSUMES US.
oh also, before i forget, this is a great example: devin's older brother, Brandon (awesome) decided he wanted to delete his facebook account, but when he went to... he was given this huge questionaire, about why he was deleting his account. it's like FB was personally offended. and THEN they gave him 14 days to make sure it was what he wanted... like they are so confident that within 14 days, people will be having such huge withdrawls, they will NEED to log on.... so the point was that within those 14 days, his account was deactiviated, and if he logged in once, any time within those 14 days, the account would become active again.
Little did he know, his PHONE logged on automatically to sync contacts (which makes this whole situation even MORE technology's fault!). and he's stuck on facebook. FOREVER. his status was "FACEBOOK OWNS ME" it's so true. and sad.
isn't that kind of creepy?
P.S. In case you were wondering... i've been FB chatting with Kylee while writing this entire post... and also checking my e-mail. SEE WHAT I MEAN?!?!

haha, you know it's funny that you wrote about this, because sean and i talk about this all the time! we even deactivated our facebook account a couple of months ago, just to get a break and we some texts and emails from people who were worried and were wondering if we were okay.. (funny how people just used a different form on technology to talk to us) we honestly just wanted to take a break and see if we could do it. i actually wrote some blog entries about it put never posted them. it was intersting to see how much our days changed when we weren't on the internet or using our phones and whatnot. we both actually got a lot done, and we felt closer to each other on those days because when we hung out it was just the 2 of us.. (well and moe) minus the computers/phones/itouches. it was actually really nice.
but then after a few days we started to feel like we were isolating oursevles from everyone because we weren't on facebook. we thought, "oh if people really want to talk to us or know what we are up to they will just come over or call.." but the funny thing is that no one came over and no one called. everyone these days is so dependent on technology and it makes me mad too. i hate it. i hate that i am a part of it. i try to think of what life would be like without facebook and think of all the people on it that i actually have seen in the past year. not very many.
when we came back after deactivating our accounts it was like 27 more people were pregnant and a million were engaged. how does all that happen in a week??
anyway, i enjoyed this post because i feel that same way! grrr technology! we are all addicts! imagine what it will be like in 20 years??
also? i hate texting too. but it can be convenient sometimes. but i still hate it.
sorry i just noticed how long that comment was and one word......WOW.
sorry bout that. haha. i also wanted to add that being off facebook and all that jazz helped me get into crafting and going to the antique store. it freed up a lot of my time and now i spend a lot less time on the internet because i found something else to keep me busy! and i love it and am obsessed!
