there are only 2 things that i really, really hope i get to do:
BUNGEE JUMPING
i know that in the moments leading up to the actual jump, i will be freaking out and second guessing my decision, but i want to go SO bad! i love rides, and i guess i'm a bit of a thrill-seeker in that way -- bungee jumping would be the ULTIMATE thrill!
VISIT PARIS
i want to travel the world, in general, but if i could only pick one place, i would go to Paris. it's absolutely beautiful, there is SO much history, and ever since my Humanities class at Dixie State, i've been fascinated by the architecture of france, and paris in particular. the arc de triomphe, the louvre, the theaters, the pantheon, notre dame, the eiffle tower, the pompidou centre, the cathedrals, sacre-cour, versailles palace, palais garnier, ... i wanna see it ALL!
Paris Opera (Palais Garnier) is the setting, and inspiration for Leroux's "Phantom of the Opera" -- in the 1800's, one of the counterweights for the grand chandelier fell and killed one person. Also, the underground lake is real -- it's not just in the movie. (both incidents are main parts in Phantom)...
so today concluded the furniture shopping. devin and i have been struggling to find an affordable bedroom set, and we finally HIT THE JACKPOT. we got a 7-piece set (headboard, footboard, rails, dresser, chest, nightstand, vanity mirror), mattress, box spring, and a warranty on the wood all for about the same price as the bedroom set at retail -- we went to Ashley Home Furniture, and Melanie and John totally hooked us up! AND... they let us nix the mirror, and switch it out for a second night stand -- unlike most places!
SO NOW: we have:
an awesome couch
a full bedroom set
a kitchen table and 4 chairs
desk and office chair
coffee table
hmm, i guess that's it, because that's really all we need! devin already has an awesome 42" plasma, and the apartment has washer/dryer, dishwasher... softwater!!! i am so excited to move in and decorate and make good use of all our new furniture! i mostly can't wait for the couch, to be honest. it's amazing. actually, that's a total lie. i am equally excited about everything we've bought, and we've been so smart with our finances so far -- it's a good start!
tonight devin and i went to Christian and Sarah's house for dinner -- Christian is one of Devin's rock climbing/golf buddies, and they have the most ADORABLE little girl, Joanna. it was a great night!
today was yet another success!
quote of the night: "...help end devin's misery of hunger..." (part of Christian's blessing before we ate!) -- after the prayer, devin couldn't stop laughing, and Christian said "what?! God likes a good joke!" It was so funny, and true! I'm sure the Lord has a very tasteful sense of humor.
LOVE the burrells. LOVE our furniture.
LOVE MY FIANCE EVEN MORE.
tomorrow -- we're going to take pictures with the polaroid for real-- no more surprises, Dev! haha
