excited. and also excited.

day 18: a picture of your biggest insecurity

i'd have to say i'm pretty secure... but i guess as far as things i can work on goes, especially now with all the extra pressure of planning a wedding... i'd have to say it would be:

(these all kind of go together)

  • not sweating the small stuff
  • not thinking of everything all at once
  • not getting overwhelmed
  • not losing sight of the bottom line: getting sealed to my best friend for time and all eternity
  • taking time to just relax
  • talking and thinking about things OTHER THAN the wedding
  • realizing everything is going to be OKAY.
Devin has definitely been keeping me grounded throughout all of this. I have been so stressed and overwhelmed lately, but he catches it faster than i do, and helps me to relax and remember that i love him, and he loves me, and that's all that matters!

I don't know why I keep saying i'm stressed -- well, yeah. i definitely, definitely am.. but i feel like it has this connotation of me not being happy and not having fun... which is a lie. These have been some of the happiest times of my life! I am so anxious and excited to keep moving forward with the plans, to keep getting closer and closer to that Thursday... and it's been SO much fun.

Tonight, Devin and I began to implement the advice his bishop gave us, which was to study our scriptures together. Devin read to me the last couple chapters of 2 Nephi, and we had some good little discussions about it -- I love being able to study the gospel with Devin one-on-one. He has so much spiritual insight, and teaches me so many things that I never would have thought of. He is definitely a spiritual giant, and a huge example to me that way. Scripture study will most definitely become one of my favorite newlywed hobbies, I can already tell!

Other news -- made some appointments to go wedding dress shopping this weekend while my sister is in town... I'm so excited! I'm kind of nervous about being able to find MY dress, but I know I will eventually. The girls at work have been so helpful, and in the funniest ways, but tonight I talked to Rhi and Lauren and they gave me so much good advice on not just my wedding dress, but my temple dress, too. I'm so excited to have Kelli down here, and to be able to try on dresses with her! It will be a blast. Also excited because my friend Kelsey will be our consultant at one of the shops!

I'm also excited for tomorrow because devin and i will meet with my grandparents and talk more about the apartment, and hopefully we can start moving things in! Devin and I are both really hoping that he will be able to go pick up the couch while i'm wedding dress shopping and working on Saturday. cross your fingers! i really do think i'm most excited for the couch --- it will be AWESOME.

I keep telling Dev how excited I am to paint, and move in, and start decorating, and I think he's holding back the urge to roll his eyes at me.. all he ever says is "okay... fine. but don't clutter it!" hahaha he's so funny. Oh that Devin Ashby. He has the most entertaining personality, I think. I mean that in the best way -- he is so fun to be around. He is definitely full of surprises!
